New Addiction....

CHILDREN'S BOOKS

I always knew as a future teacher that I would have to start buying children's books, but I didn't know that it would hit me this soon! As most of you know, this is my first REAL semester of school. I have finally entered the final stages of my degree, and I finally feel like I'm not wasting money on school and my classes are actually beneficial. I have fallen head over heels for picture books...... and that's all I've been buying, so hopefully I can follow my dream and teach first grade one day! One of my most favorite authors is ERIC CARLE.

His illustrations are amazing, and his books are classics! They will never grow old and will always be a classroom favorite. For my Children's Literature class we have to do an Author Study..... Can you guess who I chose? YEP -- ERIC CARLE. I'm actually pretty excited about it!

What are some of your favorite children's books?

One that has a lot of meaning to me is...... Love You Forever

What a GREAT Book for any family!

*AND IF ANYONE KNOWS OF ANY GREAT PLACES TO BUY CHILDREN'S BOOKS FOR A GREAT PRICE, LET ME KNOW! I AM OPEN FOR ANY SUGGESTIONS!*

I couldn't read that last book without crying before Kiley died. I sure haven't tried reading it since then. Some books just tear you up inside!

Becke', yes that is a very sad book, good, but sad. It's amazing how a book written for "children" can have so much meaning to adults. I think sometimes we appreciate them more than the kids do!

Kirby, You are in luck! I just bought that book! Next time you come home you can read it again... LOL I still don't see how they are going to make an hour and half long movie out of that short book! Crazy!

Ameilia, I know you said you want to teach 1st grade (which I do), and one of the series of books that my 1st graders absolutely love is the Junie B Jones books. I also reccommend buying some books on bullying, sad days, special me, etc. There are times when kids who have special moments/needs can just sit out and read and that helps a lot. I have a corner with a small tub of "self help" books like those that they can choose to read while they take a time out.
I buy tons of books from scholastic, they are actually pretty cheap!
